**Masa Original Content**
Designed to help Masa staff guide their participants through social action projects, this 80 page booklet provides detailed instructions, discussion points, activities and readings to help facilitate meaningful and effective volunteering experiences while in Israel and beyond. As these encounters often raise many questions, the materials help Masa participants gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of Israeli society and provide them with the practical skills and professional and emotional support they will need to be effective volunteers. The program explores topics such as social responsibility as a Jewish value and different socio-economic issues in Israeli society, including poverty and racism. Recognizing the different challenges that come up at each stage of the encounter, the program helps participants set goals and manage expectations before the volunteering begins, reflect and share dilemmas throughout the project, and process their experiences and understand how they can continue to contribute in the future at the end of the program.
