This video [04:01] illustrates the pivotal historical role of Henryk Ross, a Jew hired to be the official photographer of the Lodz ghetto. His job was to take identification photos and create propaganda photo essays for the Department of Statistics in Lodz. However, as a form of resistance, he covertly photographed the realities of life in the ghetto, capturing both the celebratory occasions and tragic events. His invaluable photographs are a testimony to the horrific suffering of the Lodz Jews, while also revealing their resilience in the face of their miserable reality.
