This link will lead you to a detailed outline of a ritual activity based on the traditional “Al Het” confessional prayer, wherein the community collectively confess their sins together during Yom Kippur prayer services. This ritual, which can be performed during the month of Elul or during the high holidays, asks participants to consider and let go of the guilt that is placed on us by outside forces. It includes music, poetry, and writing personal anonymous confessions that will ultimately be dissolved. Created by Chana Rothman, Rabbi Annie Lewis and Hila Ratzabi, this activity was shared on Ritualwell, a project of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College that provides a platform for creating new Jewish practices and observances.
