Originally written as a poem in 1966 by the Palestinian poet, Tawfeeq Zayyad, this song became popular leading up the First Intifada. The lyrics, put to music and sung by Lebanese musician, Ahmad Qa’bur, in the early 1980s, beg the Arabs and Palestinians around the world not to forget the plight of the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Unadikum (I Call Upon You)
I call upon you all:
I take your hand and hold it tightly.
I kiss the ground on which you place your feet.
I know that for you I would give my life.
My life I would give for you.
