Engaged? Jewish Traditions Before a Wedding

This 2-minute long animated video introduces seven pre-wedding Jewish traditions, including celebrating at a “l’chaim” (Jewish engagement party), visiting the”mikveh” (ritual bath), smashing a plate at the “t’naim” ceremony, and the bride and groom not seeing each other for a week before the wedding. These customs are meant to celebrate this special milestone, as well as help the new couple deepen and clarify what they hope to build together. A useful introduction for those with little Jewish background, this video was produced by BimBam, an organization which creates accessible and creative family-centered digital media about Judaism.
