The Ideology & Activities of the Irgun/Etzel

Including interviews with a former Irgun member and global terrorism experts, this video (09:28) introduces the ideology and actions of the Irgun, a Zionist paramilitary organization that operated in the British Mandate of Palestine from 1931-1948. Also known as the Etzel, a Hebrew acronym for “The National Military Organization in the Land of Israel,” the organization’s philosophy was based on the Revisionist Zionism of Ze’ev Jabotinsky, and it worked actively against both the British and the Arabs to increase Jewish immigration, settlement and security in the Land of Israel. This video focuses on the extreme and violent tactics of the organization, including thebombing of the King David Hotel in Jerusalem.
