This post presents three short videos (in Hebrew with English subtitles) from a gathering held in December 2011 at the Mandel Leadership Institute in Jerusalem, in which politicians and leaders of the movement explored the question of what the social justice protests of 2011 achieved and their opinion on the Trajtenberg report. In the above video (02:55), Rachel Azaria, a Jerusalem City Council member and activist, describes how the protests united the Israeli public and re-envisioned the purpose of the state.
In the following video (03:42), National Student Union Chairman Itzik Shmuli, a leader of the movement, discusses how the protests created a change in Israeli public opinion that would impact future politics.
In the following video (04:33), Moshe Krif, founder of The Mizrahi Democratic Rainbow, points out some of the weaknesses of the movement, emphasizing the need for a second stage with clearer goals and broader public support.
