This short clip is from the 1980 American drama film, The Jazz Singer, in which the son of a Jewish Cantor must defy the traditions of his religious father in order to pursue his dream of being a popular singer. The film stars Jewish singer-songwriter, musician and actor, Neil Diamond, who performs a moving version of a well known Ashkenazi melody for Kol Nidrei toward the end of the film.
