This informative clip (08:25) put out by the Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism (IMPJ) offers a glimpse at the scope of the movement and its many country-wide initiatives. Progressive Judaism offers many Israelis a non-Orthodox alternative to things like marriages, conversions, divorce, kashruth, and state-funded religious education which until recently have all been controlled solely by Israel’s (Orthodox) Chief Rabbinate. Organizations like the IMPJ are pushing for recognition of and public funding for these alternatives as viable expressions of Judaism in the State of Israel.
